The Coast Guard yesterday released additional guidance regarding BRP’s Sea-Doo Switch. The pontoons have been under recall since February and have been involved in multiple capsizings that resulted in fatalities.
“These capsizings have occurred when the vessel was operated with trim by the bow and the bow ‘digging into’ the water. Weather conditions and poor seamanship do not appear to be significant contributing factors,” the Coast Guard said in a statement.
The recall action includes partial sealant application to specific sections of the hull, additional product warning labels and an addendum to the operator’s guide.
