Peter Ruwe immediately liked the idea when the team at Sialia Yachts asked him to form a partnership. Ruwe’s company, EWake Germany, had been making highly customized, electric-powered boards since 2020. The boatbuilder wanted a version that would be available exclusively to owners of Sialia’s yachts, which are fully electric themselves.
“They wanted a special design,” Ruwe says. “If you look at Sialia boats, you can get a harmonized design in these boards. They look the same with a high-value carbon touch.”
In general, the boards that EWake Germany builds have base prices that range from about $14,400 to $19,000, and then go up from there with customizations that have included everything from adding extra horsepower to layering in flakes of gold. Sialia’s version is known as the Capsule Collection, with two board sizes available.

Features on these boards include being able to loop into the yacht’s management system for functions such as geofencing, where an alarm can go off on the yacht if the board’s rider goes beyond a designated zone—as the board itself slows down, and as the board’s GPS alerts the yacht’s crew to the location if they need to go collect the errant guest.
“You can make sure that your kids are not driving away from the yacht,” Ruwe says. “If you get it back into the geofence, you have full power, but if you’re outside of the fence, it’s a lot slower.”
Each board’s batteries are connected to EWake’s server in Germany, and to the yacht-management system as well. The idea is to make the crew’s life easier, Ruwe says: “If a crew member has left a battery in the sun without being used, in that scenario, there will be an alarm to check the battery. We will know the temperature is rising.”
Right now, EWake is only selling its customized boards directly to consumers in Europe, but anyone who buys a yacht from Sialia can get one, and then take it anywhere in the world they choose to cruise.
Lease a BoardEWake Germany, in addition to its recently announced partnership with Sialia Yachts, is offering all kinds of vessel owners the option to lease its other boards for occasional use. Peter Ruwe, the company’s founder and CEO, says leasing is a good option for individuals or companies with multiple yachts on the charter market.
