Sea Tow Foundation Awards Thousands of PFDs to Life Jacket Loaner Programs
The Sea Tow Foundation provides life jackets to loaner programs all over the country.

The Sea Tow Foundation recently awarded 3,774 life jackets and 50 loaner stand kits through its 2025 grant program. The initiative supports 119 groups across 39 states, expanding nationwide access to life-saving equipment for boaters.
Of the recipient organizations, 71 will establish brand-new life jacket loaner stations, while 48 will use the new life jackets to replenish existing stations. The groups receiving the awards represent a wide range of community partners, including parks, marine businesses, health care organizations, and law enforcement agencies. Thirty-three of the awarded groups are new to the Sea Tow Foundation’s program.
“We are thrilled to support these outstanding organizations as they work to make boating safer and more accessible in their communities,” said Gail R. Kulp, Executive Director of the Sea Tow Foundation. “By expanding the Life Jacket Loaner Program, we’re giving families and boaters the tools they need to make smart, safe decisions every time they’re on the water.”
The Life Jacket Loaner Program was launched in 2008 and is funded by a grant from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, administered by the U.S. Coast Guard. Since its inception, the program has distributed more than 106,000 life jackets and established over 1,300 loaner stations across all 50 states, Washington D.C., and U.S. territories.

The Sea Tow Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded in 2007 by Captain Joe Frohnhoefer with a vision of “a world where boaters are safe and responsible.” In addition to the loaner program, the foundation also promotes boating safety through its Sober Skipper Campaign, Flare Education initiatives, and the National Boating Safety Awards.
