When Marlow Yachts first introduced the 97E in 2011, it was the builder’s largest model at the time, with only the 100 Voyager surpassing it today. The 97-foot long-range cruiser was built using Marlow’s proprietary Full Stack Infusion lamination process and has a Bureau Veritas unrestricted navigation certificate. Agave is a 2011 Marlow 97 Explorer currently listed with HMY Yachts for $4.295 million.

Twin 1,800 hp Caterpillar C32B diesels allow Agave to sprint at 29 knots and cruise between 23 and 24 knots. Marlow says owners should expect a 950-nautical-mile range cruising at 25 knots, while slowing to 9 knots increase the 97E’s maximum range to 4,000 nautical miles. It’s worth noting the engines currently have 1,450 hours on them.

Agave has the command bridge layout which puts the master stateroom on deck and encloses the forward section of the flybridge, creating what the builder calls a sky bridge, moving the pilothouse and single helm station to the upper deck.

The cockpit on Agave is designed for outdoor entertainment, with a three-stool bar forward to starboard and an alfresco dining space aft with the transom bench seat and fixed table. Wide side decks, high bulwarks with hand rails and a Portuguese bridge forward make for safe passage to and from the foredeck. Speaking of the foredeck, two J-shaped settees flank the centerline forward while aft and up a few stairs guests will find a sun pad, making this the perfect spot to catch some midday rays after a morning swim.

Guests will be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere stepping into the salon thanks to teak and holly floors, sole-to-ceiling teak throughout, natural light from near waist-to-ceiling windows and accent lighting under the sofas and wrapping the ceiling above. Two facing sofas line the starboard and port walls, creating a comfortable conversation space. The forward enclosed section of the sky bridge has the two-seat helm station forward to port with an L-shaped dinette abaft. The open-air aft section of the sky bridge has a sun shade that can cover the three-stool bar and hot tub amidships. The aft section of the deck is set up for tender stowage with the Aitex 2,200-pound davit.

The forepeak VIP has an island queen berth, a 32-inch flat-screen TV and an en suite head. Two guest cabins are located abaft the VIP. The port guest cabin has side-by-side single berths while the starboard guest cabin has over-under berths. Abaft the lower master stateroom are two double-berth guest cabins.
