When Princess Yachts launched its Y78 in 2020, the builder created an entry point for its Y series, which currently ranges from 72 to 95 feet length overall. 

“The 78-foot size is also a transition point for many yachtsmen—from being owner-operators to having a part- or full-time crew,” Yachting previously wrote.

For owners looking to move into a 78-foot motoryacht that blends performance and style, HMY Yachts currently has Escape, a 2020 Princess Y78, listed just shy of $4.7 million. Escape features a variety of factory and owners selected options and has been kept in Bristol condition.

The salon has a warm and comfortable vibe with high-gloss walnut joinery and cabinetry throughout. Aft, the U-shaped settee to starboard and sofa to port create a place for owners and their guests to relax and converse. Volume-enhancing windows fill the salon with natural light, making the space feel larger than it already is. 

The main-deck galley sits amidships, which should help limit the amount of pitch and roll the chef feels while cooking. The galley has an array of appliances and features, including: 

• Granite countertops
• 4-zone induction hob combination microwave/convection oven with grill
• Twin stainless steel sinks with mixer tap
• Subzero wine chiller
• Vitrifrigo ice maker
• Perlick wine cooler in galley
• Full height refrigerator/deep freezer with integrated icemaker

The Y78 has three alfresco exterior entertainment spaces onboard. The cockpit has a U-shaped dinette guests can enjoy meals at. Forward, the foredeck has a sun pad with bench seating abaft. The flybridge has a number of options from the lounge pad aft to the dinette amidships and the sofa forward, adjacent to the upper helm station.

After a fun day on the water comes to an end, owners and guests alike can look forward to the Y78’s four-stateroom, four-head layout. The master on the Y78 is amidships with a VIP stateroom in the bow. The starboard cabin has a double berth while the port cabin has two single berths. There’s also a two-berth crew quarters abaft the engine room.  

According to Princess Yachts, the twin MAN V12 diesels should give Escape a reported 34- to 36-knot top hop depending on load and conditions. This Y78 also comes equipped with two 29 kW Onan generators, each with 923 hours. 

Escape features an array of Garmin navigational electronics, including: 

• Garmin GPSMAP 8616xsv multifunction display at lower helm
• Garmin 8616 multifunction display at lower helm (in addition to xsv unit)
• Two Garmin GPSMAP 8616 multifunction displays at upper helm
• Garmin GMR Fantom 124 radar (6 kW / 4 ft open array scanner)
• Garmin GMl20 multifunction instruments
• Garmin GHP20 autopilot (dual station) and Garmin VHF 315
• Garmin AIS 800
• External Garmin GPS antenna connected to Garmin backbone
