Portable Fuel Caddies for Boaters

DATE POSTED:September 12, 2025
Fuel caddy for PWC and boats A fuel caddy allows for dockside fueling of your PWC or boat. Phil Hollandsworth

Fueling your PWC or boat doesn’t have to be a hassle. The right fuel caddy makes the job quick and easy. We compared three popular options: the FLO-FAST Pro 15-Gallon System, the Scepter Powered Fueling Station 14-Gallon, and the Scepter Flo ’N Go DuraMax 14-Gallon. Each serves a different type of boater.

The FLO-FAST is built for quick fueling. Its rotary hand pump with reversible flow can move up to 8 gallons per minute, so a full 15-gallon tank is transferred in under two minutes. The standard hose is 5 feet, which keeps setup compact, and the Versa Cart uses solid rubber tires that won’t go flat. If you refuel often and want speed with a sturdy cart, this is the caddy for you.

Best for: Frequent fueling where speed and durability matter.

For boaters needing a smaller fuel capacity or flexibility, FLO-FAST offers several other system configurations, all using the same high-speed rotary pump design. Options include single-tank setups in 5, 7.5, 10.5, 15, and 21 gallons, as well as dual-tank kits that pair two smaller tanks on one cart. Users can also choose between compact Versa Carts or full Versa Carts, both available with 10-inch or 12-inch solid tires for terrain versatility. Prices range from around $450 for compact single-tank systems to more than $600 for the largest 21-gallon pro models.

This unit is all about convenience. Expect about 4.5 GPM on AA batteries and up to 6 GPM with the AC adapter. The 10-foot hose makes it easy to reach deck fills, and the wheeled design is simple to move around the dock. For home docks or multi-boat families who want push-button fueling, it’s hard to beat.

Best for: Convenience and quick fills with minimal effort.

Scepter Duramax fuel caddy The Scepter Duramax can be operated in siphon mode or as a gravity-fed system. Courtesy Scepter Scepter Flo ’N Go DuraMax 14-Gallon

The DuraMax is the value choice. It can be operated in siphon mode using the hand pump or as a gravity-fed system if the tank is elevated above the fill. Flow rate averages around 2 GPM, making it slower than the other fuel caddies, but the 10-foot hose and 6-inch wheels make it easy to stage on the dock and reach the deck fill without moving the container.

Best for: Budget-conscious boaters who don’t mind a slower transfer.

Final Thoughts

If speed and durability are your priority, choose the FLO-FAST Pro 15-Gal.

If convenience matters most, choose the Scepter Powered 14-Gal.

If price is the deciding factor, choose the Scepter DuraMax 14-Gal.
