Italian shipbuilder MED Group is entering the superyacht-tender market with its TYKUN chase-boat series. The company, known for its custom commercial craft for public administration and military clients, is leveraging its experience in this line of high-performance-focused yacht tenders.
Designed by Italian architect Tommaso Spadolini, there are three TYKUN models measuring 28, 34.5 and 41 feet length overall. The boats have durable aluminum hulls, which reduce the need for molds, allowing for a high level of customization. Owners can select layouts, colors, fabrics and finishes.
Designed for performance and handling, the chase boats are capable of speeds exceeding 55 knots. The hull design comes from the company’s background in supplying RIBs to law enforcement and security agencies. These vessels meet NATO and EC standards.
Building on our years of experience creating vessels for the defense sector at MED Group, we are very excited to showcase TYKUN to the market. Created with the quality of a superyacht, to the very demanding standards of military vessels, these boats combine the power and grit of a military vessel with the elegance and comfort of a superyacht tender,” stated Marco Galimberti, MED Group CEO, in a press release.
The first 34.5-foot TYKUN is under construction and is scheduled to debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September. A 41-foot model is also on order, with delivery expected in 2026.
