Hinckley Yachts has introduced the Picnic Boat 39, the latest evolution of the model balances traditional lines with modern engineering, traits which have defined the brand since the mid-1990s. It took home Best New Powerboat Under 45 Feet as well as Best New Boat Overall at the 2025 Newport International Boat Show’s Newport for New Products Awards as well.
Power comes from twin Volvo Penta D6-480 diesels coupled to Hamilton HJX27 waterjets, producing a top speed of 36 knots and a cruise around 32 knots. Jet propulsion also means a draft of only 22 inches, giving owners access to shallow anchorages and beach landings. The hull is built with carbon E-glass composites for a strong but lightweight structure.
The new 39 introduces forward seating for the first time in the Picnic Boat series, joining a cockpit and salon layout designed for day cruising and entertaining. Three connected social zones provide flexibility for different groups on board. Access to the foredeck is simplified by a central sliding window rather than traditional side decks.
At the helm, Hinckley has fitted its JetStick 4 control system, which integrates features such as Dockhold, Heading Hold, and dynamic steering that automatically adjusts sensitivity with speed. The result is precise low-speed maneuverability and less stress when docking.
The Picnic Boat 39 maintains the signature Hinckley look but updates it with a single-curved windshield, slightly flatter sheer line, and more generous seating dimensions. With its combination of shallow-water capability, advanced control systems, and updated layout, the 39 is positioned as the most versatile Picnic Boat yet.
